OUR WINES

The pioneering spirit of the families behind the wines is still evident in these enduring and elegant offerings. Combining the unique terroir of Argentina’s renowned wine region with European traditions, Orfila wines capture the best of two winemaking worlds.

Malbec Classic

This luscious, bright wine is made with 100% Malbec grown in the Ugarteche (Lujan de Cuyo) vineyard at an elevation of 3,200 feet and originally planted in 1969; Barrancas (Maipú), with original plantings in 1967; and La Consulta (Uco Valley). It is unoaked and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Selection

An enticing blend of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Lujan de Cuyo, Maipú, and La Consulta (Uco Valley – San Carlos), this wine is aged in French and American oak barrels, before bottle aging for an additional three months.

Malbec Reserva

Orfila’s signature Malbec, this wine comes from the winery’s best vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, as well as Altamira and El Cepillo in Uco Valley. It is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, before a careful barrel selection of the best lots for the final blend.

Red Blend Reserva

A premier blend of 50% Malbec and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine comes from the winery’s best vineyards: La Consulta (Uco Valley – San Carlos) and Barrancas (Maipú) for Malbec and Vistaflores (Uco Valley) and La Consulta for Cabernet Sauvignon. It is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, before a careful barrel selection of the best lots for the final blend.

Today the Gancia family continues to keep the European winemaking traditions of their forefathers alive. Fourth generation Camilo Gancia, who died in 2012, passed the reins to the next generation who oversee all aspects of the winery. Just as the winery continues to thrive, so too does the evolution of the wines. Vineyards that were once leased are now back in the family’s control, and winemaking and growing practices are state-of-the-art. In keeping with best agricultural methods, the family farms its vineyards organically and is in the process of having them certified; biodynamic farming techniques are also being used in some vineyards. Striking a balance of European structure and modern day, fruit-forward wines, Orfila hits all the right notes.
